Dr. Kirby is experienced and very intelligent, and is extremely conscientious about treating each animal he sees. Over the course of 30 years, he has treated my horse, 5 dogs, and 2 cats. I would absolutely trust his judgement on any medical decision that has to be made.

I can't begin to thank Dr. Kirby and his staff enough for saving my cat's life. After receiving a cortisone injection from a veterinarian in Tacoma, my cat became gravely ill. Panic-stricken, I called Dr. Kirby's clinic, and they took me in right away. If it weren't for Dr. Kirby's compassion and medical expertise, I am convinced my cat would have died. Lucky for me, Dr. Kirby not only saved my cat's life, but saved me the grief of losing my best friend.

My kitty is much better now, and word's can't express the gratitude I feel toward Dr. Kirby and his staff. God bless you guys and keep up the phenomenal work!!!!!

With my deepest gratitude,

Herbie's mommy

Dr. Kirby and his entire staff are great! Kind, compassionate, knowledgeable. He continues his education and training, ensuring he stays up to date. My wife and I have been taking all our animals there since 1994. When we were looking for a new home one of the most important criteria was it had to be within a convenient driving distance to Gig Harbor Vet Hospital. From the very first time we talked with him we felt like his primary concern was for our pet. He has stayed late, opened early, given us free care and when one of our dogs needed chemotherapy he personally talked to the specialist in Tacoma daily and then called us to update us on our dogs condition (including Sunday's). He has saved one of dogs life by performing emergency surgery, helped me devise the best treatment option for a cat with cancer, and when one of our dogs had to be put to sleep Dr. Kirby came to our house so she wouldn't be stressed and cause unnecessary pain in being lifted into and out of the car. He will be my only vet until he retires and then I plan to beg him to continue to see my animals.

My whole family has taken our pets to Dr. Kirby for over 25 years. He has always been thoughtful, kind and courteous. He listens to his pet owners, and tries to cut the best prices possible for you. You cannot find a better vet than Dr. Kirby.

We have been using Dr. Kirby and his staff since moving here in 2001. Needless to say with having 3 dogs during that time period we have gone through it all and Dr. Kirby has been terrific, no matter what the issue. Wonderful bedside manner through the tough stuff as well.

I Love, Love, Love Dr. Kirby and ALL his staff!!!

After spending 3000$ for 24hours of nothing at the Animal Hospital in Tacoma... Dr.Kirby has been the only one to help my Chihuahua with her major issues and has kept the cost down! He has stayed after hours to take emergency care of my dog and has called to check up on her on Sundays!

All of his staff is so nice and helpful also!!! I will recommend him to anyone needing a good, friendly, caring vet! Thank you for all your help! I will be a loyal client! :)

I am extremely unhappy with this vet. Our golden retriever isn't eating and has been very lethargic so we take her in and Dr. Kirby performs $600 worth of tests but can't describe what's wrong. He prescribes two types of antibiotics. He requests that we come back the very next morning, after our dog has only taken one dose of the antibiotics and says she's perfectly fine and charges us another $60.00. That is after he tells us to be there at 8:00 am (handwritten on the appointment slip), except when we get there the office doesn't open until 8:30 am and we find out we have to come back at 10:45 am because he had a personal appointment for himself. I am still baffled that a dog can be perfectly fine after one small dose of antibiotics, I feel he wanted us to come back just to charge us more. On the prescription notes he writes that she is presenting with worms and to have that treated later. I looked up tonight and all her previous symptoms are those of a dog with worms. Could have saved $700 had he treated her for that first. Now we still have to take her in to be treated for the worms. The man is a crook and needless to say we've changed vets.

Dr. Kirby and his staff are always courteous, prompt, personable, and genuine when dealing with me and my dog. I have taken my dog to Dr. Kirby for many years now and he has always been eager to take the time to answer any questions I may have. He is a thorough and caring vet.

Dr. Kirby is also great in that he explains everything in a very basic and understandable way. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a vet in the greater Gig Harbor area.

Dr. Kirby always has time to answer your questions, and he obviously cares about his patients. We started bringing our pets to Dr. Kirby a few months ago after one of our cats suddenly started showing symptoms of Feline Leukaemia. Our previous vet had recommended euthanasia for our cat, but Dr Kirby discovered a hidden injury that had become infected, and he saved our cat's life by staying after hours to give him emergency surgery. He now takes care of all of our many pets.
