Travelling With Your Pets

There is nothing better than going on a family vacation and getting away from the everyday stresses of life. However, what about the pets at home? Finding a neighbour to leave your pet with, or finding someone to keep checking your pets at home can be more trouble than itís worth. So, what should you do with your pets if you want to go on a vacation?

If you are flying to your destination some airlines allow pets to accompany you and this could be part of your free baggage. It doesnítít matter if you are on an international or domestic flight or even if your pets are on a different aircraft than you, they will not be considered as part of your free baggage allowance and you will have to pay the fee that is required. Your pets have to be in a pet pack and they may not be carried by you or on a lead.

There are certain sizes that have to be considered when checking if your pet can be part of your free baggage. Your pet will only qualify for free baggage if they are in a small or medium sized pet pack. Anything bigger than that will not pass and you will have to pay for your pet separately. You also may not have more than two pet packs aboard the aircraft.

If your pet does not fit in the small or medium pet pack but you would still like to take him along, you will have to get an 8 gauge wire mesh crate. The crate cannot be bigger than 84cm in height.

So, bearing all of the formalities in mind, it is possible for you to take your pet on vacation with you. Happy holidays!
